Winnipeg Backyard Rinks

Curtis Oleschuk and Eric Redder didn't let the flooding of Winnipeg rivers stop them from skating — they built their own rinks.

Oleschuk and his wife, Nicole, carried over 200 buckets of Red River water 20 feet up from their riverbank to their backyard. The Seine River flooded the forrest behind Redder's house, so he built a rink in the forest.
